If I were a posh academic, someone with a monocle 🧐, plaid suit and tie, a cane, and a fancy hat, I’d describe my last days as Brahms 5th Hungarian Dance in F-Sharp Minor
As I’m not a 🧐, I’ll describe it as it really was: an absolute fucking crazy mess.
In this completely unscheduled 💦 Quickie, I’ll go around the following topics:
I’ll do a workshop!
My brother visited me in Germany!
I’m losing control of my life!
More classical music exploration
Bill Withers(I just decided to write a bigger piece about him)
👨💻🛠📰
I’ll do a workshop on how newsletters are made, specifically about the technical part behind all of this newsletter magic. It will be part of a Brazilian event — O Tempo e o Texto — with several workshops, lectures, and discussions about the newsletter environment.
If you speak Portuguese and like these nice articles you get in your email, you should ASAP get your seat at this amazing event.
It will feature an amazing rooster of writers, editors, readers, artists, and a noisy fool (me). I can’t even name all of them — some, personal friends; others, professional crushes. If I weren’t actually participating in it as a speaker, I’d surely be with you in the audience.
🌻🌹💪
It's tough to briefly describe my brother's brief trip to Germany these last weeks — the reason I've been away from the newsletter and most of my life.
These first six months in Germany have been a hell of a ride, full of ups and downs. I was missing someone with whom I could be genuinely vulnerable without any fear, that would welcome a hug or a silly idea, who would be up for fancy dining or "let's just eat these rests from yesterday." Having Lucas here was a gift, a clear breeze in days of storms.
We did a lot in just a few days — we drank four maßes each at the Wiesn (or Oktoberfest, for the non-initiated), visited Switzerland (the most expensive place on this Earth. I shall never step in this country again if god helps me), assembled a closet and a cupboard (he did most of the work, I confess), and sang in an impromptu choir.
I hope I can tell you more about this in future issues of this newsletter. The important part is: he came, he saw, he won. Better: we won. Having him on my side these days makes me feel like a winner.
🫠🤪🥸
Being on vacation is nice, but the hangover is unbearable. I’m back in real life, and there's so much I’ve left behind.
This newsletter, for instance, should’ve followed a specific calendar… and I blew it. Also, all my personal organization — schedules, for instance — have been overlooked and forgotten. Let us not even start to talk about how messy my house is.
So, this and the next week need to be about organizing myself and, honestly, getting my shit together.
The important part is that I'll get my shit together, and things will get better after that.
At least, that's what I hope happens. Let's hope in unison.
How usually do YOU put your shit together? I’d love to know in the comments :)
🤘🤬👊
My exploration of classic (or whatever you call it) music continues. Right now, I’m interested in heavier ones, not in those that make me feel nice and dreamy but wanting to punch something. I want to feel like this:
Maybe like this as well (but more on the headbanging state):
It’s nice to “oh, Für Elise, how cute” and all, but sometimes you want to destroy something beautiful instead of just smell flowers and thread the green path.
Sometimes you want to hit play in a song called Mars, The Bringer of War — based on the god and the planet — and conducted by this mean-as-hell person:
Sometimes you don’t want to clean your house listening to some soothing dew-drops tunes or even the latest pop songs on the radio. Sometimes you want to wear your broom like a sword and slice the dust away.
Are you late? Do you need to get that paper written or those lines reviewed? Are your tests not passing, and you are way past the deadline? Maybe this can cheer you up and make you fucking go faster!!!!
There are those days you are just, you know, heretic. Bad words and curses don’t work anymore. You need some Latin to express your anger, vita detestabilis, egestatem, potestatem, dissolvit ut glaciem, and all.
I’m REALLY enjoying writing about classical music findings. If you want a standalone piece on this, please let me know in the comments.
I’ll be writing about Bill Withers as well, soon. I hope, at least, if my life doesn’t get crazy again — and if I manage to get my shit together, which is my plan.
If you read through all of this and think it’s not worth a share, please at least share the event I mentioned in the first topic. It’s way more important than my shabby newsletter and will reach many people who want this kind of content.
Thanks a lot, and see you soon :)
I NEED a standalone piece on classical music!!!! haha this is exactly how I listen to it, looking for moods. I always expect to have my brain melted in the process. haha
Last time I was trying to get a "Julius Caesar coming back from the grave with light and thunder" vibe for a RPG campaign and it was magical jajaoso YES PLEASE DO IT
