Putting things into perspective
Organizing Substack as my main writing platform: another 💦 Quickie with Angelo
Writing in Substack is awesome. Even though I’m not using it fully and I’m not getting the follower base some people say they get here, the whole platform makes me want to write more. I don’t want, though, to overwhelm you, reader.
I got my full brain — a couple of neurons — working and created a publishing calendar, so we all can know what we sign up to.
When and what
My compromise has two fronts: minimal and optimal.
Minimal
The minimal front means I will send at least one email every two weeks. These will have some thoughts and updates, continuing what I’ve been doing so far.
This approach will happen when I’m having my mind full or when I get vacation time. But, as the name says, it’s not the best front, just the minimal.
The optimal front, on the other hand, is what I want to accomplish from now on.
Optimal
One email every Thursday with smaller content: updates on projects, quick thoughts and reflections, and recommendations of books, movies, and albums. The end notes of my previous newsletters would fit this format and separate more lengthy pieces of writing. I’ll also share anything I wrote on my blog and not here (technical things, for instance).
One email every Tuesday with more extended writing — but worry not, I won’t go longer than 3 thousand words. No one got time for that. These will be reflections and thoughts about more complex issues and a way to put my thinking out there.
Don’t forget I’m human
…so please, let’s not get angry if I don’t get these dates perfectly at the start. I know I will not be able to go through with this perfectly from day one, so please bear with me.
This message today is comprised of my being clear and transparent and asking you for your understanding.
Tell me
I’ll really need some honest feedback from now on — starting today. What do you think about this change? Do you have opinions on it? Please share it with me by answering this message or commenting on the Substack website.
Also, if you think this is an excellent example of how to be transparent with your readers or make a really stupid and worthless plan, please share it with your peers.
Concordo com a Clau aqui, vai fundo
