Decision fatigue

or: Brazilians, rejoice

This is, for now, the last issue of this newsletter in English.

I’ve been dealing with many questions regarding this newsletter since I started, from the simple “why to write it?” to the problematic “who am I writing to?”.

I say it’s problematic because the answer is: I don’t know who my audience is. At the start, the plan was to target English-speaking people because I moved to another country, but whenever someone asked, “but which English-speaking people?” I couldn’t answer it.

My wish was to write more technical articles, but then I realized this newsletter was not the best media for it. I’d also love to share more about my personal life and thoughts, but this would ultimately target people interested in those subjects — mostly… Brazilians. Also, people that usually comment and interact are from Brazil, and the newsletter colleagues I’ve made are also from there.

I would love to grow my reader number, of course, and one of the ways to do that is by being recommended by others. If most of my readers are Brazilian, writing in Portuguese might make them recommend me more, bringing in more Brazilian readers, and… yeah, you know where I’m going.

, as well as the data from the last issue — to write future articles in this newsletter in Brazilian Portuguese. I will keep my website (that has a blog) in English and post there any technical stuff that I make — they would be advertised here and on other places, like my company blog and dev.to.

Some stuff might change:

• the name of the newsletter and the sections: sadly, there’s no good translation for The Revelry, but Quickie has a good one. Moanin’ will be hard.

• Periodicity: it’s not good right now, and it will be overhauled once again.

Other stuff will stay the same:

• There will be a section for lengthier articles, another for quick & personal stuff, and one for music — I really have to start postponing that one.

• I will continue to be confused.

• Your feedback and inspiration will be required more than ever.
